...To Finish

This project has been an amazing experience. I have learned so much about volunteering in the community, and the extensive process of doing so! I have been so lucky to work with Teddy Bears With Heart, as they have been so kind and supportive throughout this whole project.

The last few steps of this project included making a poster board, a PowerPoint and a presentation. All of the students met at ISM at around 6 pm for the Youth Leaders of ISM Present event. One of my Community Partners came, Ms. Karen, which I was very grateful for. It was nice to present and share the work that I have done with the community.

Completing The Bear Drive

After several weeks of planning, researching, organizing, and doing all the practical work such as picking up barrels, making flyers and posters, informing the community of the drive and collecting the 497 stuffed animals, I was now able to meet with Ms. Susie to hand over all of the donations to TBWH. I loaded the car and my supervisor and I drove to the Monterey Fairgrounds. We met Ms. Susie there and unloaded all the bags and barrels. We brought them over to the TBWH tent and started tagging them. Ms. Susie filled out my Academic Honesty form and we thanked her for being such a kind and supportive Community Partner.

Thank You ISM Community!

ISM sent out this email from me to the community...

Dear ISM Community,

For my 8th grade Community Project, I chose Teddy Bears with Heart (TBWH) as my community partner. TBWH collects stuffed animals for children in crisis, the terminally ill and the forgotten elderly. As part of my project, I did a Bear Drive at ISM to collect gently loved stuffed animals to donate to my community partner.

Thanks to your kindness and generosity, 497 stuffed animals were collected, and they will all go to Teddy Bears with Heart who will distribute them to the organizations they work with.

THANK YOU to all of you for making the Bear Drive a success!

Sincerely,
Danya Novak

The Bears are Still Coming!

When I came to school today, I was happily surprised with the news that more stuffed animals had been donated. Maren in seventh grade had brought in two bags of bears, and now the total is 497 stuffed animals!! I am so grateful that I have so many bears to give to children in crisis. I truly believe that it will bring smiles to their faces, and warmth to their hearts.
