Post 3

Spring break was lovely and we are now back in school. Ms. Karen from TBWH has always been prompt about responding to my emails, but lately, I haven't received any responses, which concerned me. I asked Mr. Will for advice and he suggested contacting my community partner through another means of communication. Luckily, Ms. Karen had shared her and Ms. Susie's phone numbers with me earlier in the project, so I did have the option.

I met with my supervisor today and we called Ms. Susie to check in about Ms. Karen. There was a reason for the lack of response, and Ms. Karen is okay, which is nice to know. We asked Ms. Susie if we could pick up the barrels tomorrow, to get the ball rolling on collecting, and she said that it was fine with her. I plan, and hope, that I can start collection within the next week, so I can have a week following for extra collection time.

My to-do-list contains the following tasks:
- Get the barrels tomorrow Sunday from Ms. Susie's house
- Bring the barrels to ISM and Portola Hotel & Spa
- Meet with Mr. Will to determine where to place the barrel
- Create signs and posters
- Print brochures (still awaiting)
- Hand out brochures
- Post signs around the community

My one challenge right now is how I should advertise the bear drive, and let the community know that I am hosting one. The only options I have right now, that would inform my community are:

A) Setting up posters and handing out flyers, which means I will have to purchase more materials and work more on that.

B) Sending out two mass emails (one for the International School of Monterey, and one to Portola Hotel and Spa) about the event.

I believe that both options would work, the mass email, possibly more so. I will need permission from administrators to do so, though, so I have one more item to add to my "to do list".

I will be volunteering at Bingo for Bears on April 24th, am very excited to see how that all works!
